International Universal Recycling Codes

The EU Directive on packaging & packaging waste states: "To facilitate collection, reuse and recovery including recycling, packaging shall indicate for purposes of its identification and classification by the industry concerned the nature of the packaging material(s) used."

Finally, the international, universal recycling codes give instructions for the recycling of packaging waste. The European Directive on packaging & packaging waste 94/62/EC regards these recycling codes as important for identifying the original material. These codes must facilitate waste collection, reuse and processing, which includes recycling, as much as possible.
