Packaging Waste
European Directive on packaging & packaging waste (94/62/EC)
The European Directive on packaging & packaging waste 94/62/EC is applicable to all European Union member states and is specified in the umbrella standard EN13427. Within this umbrella standard, reference is made to various standards for production, composition, reuse and recovery of packaging and packaging waste. A few examples of this are: EN 13428 (Prevention by source reduction), CR 13695-1 (Use of heavy metals), EN 13428 (Other dangerous substances), EN 13429 (Reuse), EN 13430 (Recycling of material), EN 13431 (Energy recovery) and EN 13432 (Composting and biodegradation). The relationship between the various standards is shown in the following table:
